Prelude to Turkey:

I'm leaving for traveling tonight. So in preparation, Ian and I were just researching on the interweb to find some local shreds in Turkey that could show us some new moves... This is what we found.

I fucking hate Metallica

Sled Side

Late last week I headed out with my sledmobile to Turnagain. There was a heavy fog hanging around Anchorage but once I was deeper into Turnagain Arm the clouds dissapeared.

I hit the parking lot around 11:30 and ran into Sergey of the Binge Crew. We geared up, hopped on our rockets and went up and over. Two feet of untracked champagne powder greeted us when we reached the ridge.

spotted

During my daily overview of flickr, I spotted a few pics of matt, logan and garrett. Pretty sweet. Have a looksy at the rest here.

backyard boarding- never grow up

Every year it is inevitable that i will get bored hanging out inside watching friends reruns and attempt to make some kind of snowboard obstacle in my backyard. This winter i am in a new place, which means a chance for a new setup. My yard has about 8 to 10 feet of vertical, a big step up from my flat yard last year. At first, I figured I would just build a little bump to do grabs off of, but once I got building, things started to come together. In the end, I ended up with a triple line, a straight on gap, and both a frontside and backside hip. So sick.

We have been a little slow to start filming this year, but I think its on now. This is a from a night and a day up in the woods. We found a few fun little obstacles to shred. Enjoy.

If that didnt get you stoked, this will, but be careful.

For the last two days B$ and I(ram) have ventured up to the slopes of arctic valley for some pow shredding. Fatefully, my snowboard was left in the back of BRT's truck so I was forced to break out the old sims blade. I always find myself to be fairly resistant to take the blade out, but when i do its the best, ever single time. Its about a 170, 17 inch stance, 25 to 30 degree forward angle on both bindings, flat tail and big pointy nose, but it is somehow the greatest board ever for shredding pow turns. It really brings me back to my roots, makes me feel like i did here.

Me and Trick went up to Jays yesterday for another epic session. There is just a ridiculous amount of fun to be had up there. The session started out slow, but once the lights came on, things came together. We shredded until our legs started shaking, and then took about 10 more runs. It was awesome. Jay is awesome.
We set up the mountain bike jump to add a little airtime to the line. BRT blastin a method.
Birthday boy Garrett making skiing look cool

After we called it a day, BRT strapped in and did about 8 frontboards in a row on the down bar, which in turn secured the MVP for the night
The stoke carried over into nighttime activities

We all got ink last night
Yeah, we went there

weekend update

Friday night:

Logi, Ram, Garret, me, Jay and a few others met up at the Northern Slope and took some laps on the new set up. Instead of hammering man sodas (beer) all night we hammered Jay's new 20 ft hand rail.

I spent a lot of time over the last 6 years lapping parks in Colorado surrounded by Scenesters and it was great to finally get in on an Alaskan park session... seriously the most fun I've had hitting rails for years. Thanks Jay!

Here are a couple of pics Ram snapped of the action:

Saturday:

We woke up early sober and sore. Once the motivation showed up we headed down to Turnagain pass to look for good snow. Clear skies and a small wind blown base greeted us above tree line.

At the top we strapped in and hunted down a few stashes

11.11.09

Things that happened today
-Went to work
-Anchorage got a flash snow storm resulting in about an inch of snow
-I became extremely excited about the season ahead
-We contacted Yobeat about posting our vids
-We got really excited about becoming really cool (if we make it on Yobeat)
-I finally figured out who my favorite snowboarder is: Nicolas Muller
-The roads got really icy
-I convinced Brendan to come hit the usual early season (2 inches of snow) spot
-Ate at Taco King
-Set up the bleachers with visions of radical tricks being executed with perfect steeze
-Got denied on every trick I tried except 5-0's

-Vowed to Brendan to never hit those bleachers again
-Secretly realized I would be back in a few weeks
-Considered buying a rocker/banana style board with high hopes of superior jib skills
-Realized my 90's era Kemper is the only board for me
-Watched the office
-Met B$ on her walk home
-Noticed that Scratchy is missing. I hope shes okay.

-Surfed the web
-Got inspired by this video
-Sleep

Soul Boardin' Panorama

I went on a soul boardin' mission up to Tincan Mountain yesterday. It's rewarding to put in some energy to get to the top of a mountain, even if the ride down is less then epic. Turnagain has a pretty solid base and it looks like we'll be getting some more to top it off in the next few days. As you can see some of the peaks around that zone are quite extreme... Days like this make me remember why I live in the last frontier...

weekend warriors

Currently, I(B$) am sitting on the couch next to josh- just kinda hanging out in our stretchy pants, being super lazy on this snowy sunday night. We did a good job of convincing ourselves that we deserve a "quite night in" after such an epic weekend. The pictures below outline some of the highlights, but not all of them.

sometimes a picture is worth a 1,000 words; this isn't one of those times. In fact, I can only really think of one word: wrong.

chang, working on the tweakidge

grab and tweak, hike up, and repeat

Last night was Ghostland. It was ridiculously awesome. Multiple times last night I was getting all kinds of boogiefeet on the dance floor and I would start giggling about how awesome it was. Found some pics from the show on the interweb. Scope.

And another mini vid of us from last weekend, getting rad up at flattop. Snowboarding is just the best.

Sunday Funday

This sunday we decided to go play on the small patch of snow at the local ski area. Much fun ensued, and we managed to film some of this fun. Then mattiew vonvildabeast (his new european snowboarder we hang out with) made an edit. Here it is.

Hilltop Sesh - November 1st 2009 from logan imlach on Vimeo.

until next time, i love you too,

logie

Saturday
The founding fathers of D/L opted out of the rail jam sesh to go bathe in the warm light on the hillsides of the majestic chugach mountain range. We ran around the foothills looking for a zone to maximize the 4inches of snow that we were graced with earlier in the week.
Dudes
It's real nice to be able to slide around on snow.

The amount of snow we got really is just such a tease. It looks all soft and wonderful until you rip into a backside carve and spray rocks everywhere, still we couldnt resist. Eventually we posted up on a little spot the wind had filled in and made two little back to back jumps to log some airtime.
Drop zone

Brendans mini grab of choice

Then there was halloween.

Brendan wore a speedo and a cape
B$ wore frogskins, which means she was either a hipster or a ski bunny from the past

Sunday
The morning came quick. B$ and I were entertained by hozers antics for a few hours while brendan reclaimed the couch. He was all bitter because he had been screwed out of the couch the last two weekends.

Eventually we made it up to flattop and ripped every obstacle in sight. Mini vid in the works.

Dino Devo and Waldo-Logan Win Best Trick!

Dino Devo got after it last night at Trick or Street. Devo took home the Best Trick award. He pulled out a smooth spin slider and went home with a new board. Way to represent Devon!

Logan Imlach won Best Trick for skiers. He mercilessly crushed the competition. If there were 2nd and 3rd place for best trick he would have won those too. Logan's new school moves changed peoples lives that night...

You guys both get Doom/Love gold stars for the weekend

snowboarding used to be cool

thank god for this show. now i dont have to feel so bad about watching some horribly dramatic teen reality show because i can blame it on the minute and a half of snowboarding they show every episode. Yes!

After watching that teaser your probably in the mood to party, so come on down to the pizza party. See you there.

new stuffs

there is still no snow in alaska. im pissed.
next weekend, with or without mother natures help, buttery fresh and northern boarder will have a rail sliding talent off, trick or street. Ill be there with my board strapped to my feet, i heard matt wild is the one to beat, maybe I will be the one to defeat, golly gee that would be sweet, i would send all my friends a tweet, anyway, grab some candy to eat, come up to hilltop and grab a seat, maybe their will be a girl you will meet, mosquitos are gone, you don't need deet, bundle up for the lack of heat, its gonna be neat.

Besides getting really good at ryhming words, we haven't been up to a whole lot of awesomeness lately. A little while ago we were coerced into making a little infomercial at northern boarder with hozer. Scope. I think the idea was sweet.

Ghostland Observatory is coming soon to rock our socks off. Hozer put together a little promo with a bunch of footy from ians space party. How legit was that party. Scope.

Another little video from whittier. This one was from last spring, early April maybe.

Travis and Logan both got some bangers, but somehow they didnt find there way on to my camera.

More mini vids up by the end of the weekend. toodles

Join the misadventure

The original plan was for a solid crew of 8 or more people to head out on two boats to attempt climbing a tide water glacier, and film snowboarding on it. Due to some mechanical mishaps and unfavorable weather, the crew quickly became a duo (still considered a crew in some places). Ian and I (BRT) launched out of Whittier as the sun was disappearing behind the towering mountains. With delusions of grandeur in our minds we sailed (Chang style) into the unknown... watch the video and see what happens. The vid is 9:00 minutes long, so sit back and enjoy...

Went to a local drinkery with the crew last night to check out some live alaskan music. LaVoy rocked our socks off with some tasty licks and refreshing moves. We liked them so much that B$ threw down some flow for their albums. Check them out: www.lavoymusic.com

Logi Bear

This is Logan's edit from last season. He gets creative on winter features... very impressive. He's moving up on the list.

DL Throwback 5

I ran into Victor a couple weekends ago and it made me remember an epic spring day of riding and Queing we had in the sun up at a secret spot on Turnagain pass. Victor killed it that day with his switch spinning prowess. The brainstorming for this coming season is full on... look forward to something new...

in between season

So long are the sunny days spent on the lake sipping on high life and ripping around on wake surfs, so long are the pleasant midnight bike rides, so long are the endless beach fires. We have now reached the in between season, but its not bringing us down one bit. We have taken advantage of this time to do a little dry land training.

Ian strapped and ready for the heaviest line of the day
All the rage with these youngsters and snowboarding, is snow. Thats not really progressive enough for us vets. We have to bring it to a new level, this guy knows what im talking about(not really).
Filmhead Hoze was on site gathering some footy of this novelty act we put on
Synchronized tail block training
All grabs and tweaks were perfected
Action shot
Ian bagged the first method of the season
Someday we will post a video of this, until then, blah.
